Erté's Fashion Designs
218 illustrations by HARPER'S BAZAR 1918-1932. Including 8 full color plates.
Erté became known after designing a dress for Mata Hari. 67 years later he continued to create, designed dresses and accessories for the famous Glyndebourne Der Rosenkavalier festival. In the 1920s, Erté was practically the only prestigious designer of Parisian fashion monopolizing all the media of the time.
Princesses, half-worlders, cultural personalities and artists of the time were dressed by Erté who created his own style of fashion and conception that still today is so characteristic. Erté was a lover of the sophisticated and elegant decoration avoiding the overloaded and baroque, perhaps for that reason he has arrived and continues being recognized in our days.
In this fantastic work published by Dover we can appreciate his most important and famous designs. In addition, each illustration is accompanied by a small explanation as well as the fabrics and materials used for the design. 8 colored pages finish off this work that is a classic of 20th century European fashion.
