Midoris and Traveler's notebooks
Everyone talks about midoris and travelers notebooks, and you don't know what they are? We will explain what these creative notebooks consist of, and give you ideas and advice on how to have your own unique and stylish Midori.
Read moreFor some time now, you can see images of midoris everywhere. Many are taken by scrapbooking enthusiasts, but you can also find some from professionals. All share Midori fever and this fever is gradually spreading on social networks. But despite having heard or read about this brand several times, you are never quite sure what exactly a Midori is and the possibilities it can offer. In this article, you will therefore discover this new type of notebook and how to make the most of it.
We call Midori a travel notebook, but in reality, it's an original brand of notebooks from Japan. Over time, this term has been generalized to include all Traveler's notebooks, which is the common name used by brands, since they cannot use the Japanese trade name. The Midori was born as a travel journal, but its use can be adapted to our needs.
The Traveler's notebook is made of synthetic leather cover that contains a series of notebooks inside that can be easily removed or added at will. These notebooks will reflect your travels or can be used as a journal, drawing book, cutting album... The system is simple and fast: an elastic band holds the inserted notebook in the middle. As the major scrapbooking brands are gradually giving way to this trend, there are more and more different colours and models available. There is certainly one for every style! Webster's Pages' new models go even further and move away from plain colours to offer flower, polka dot or stripe patterns. An original feature that differentiates the Midori from other notebooks is its format; it is thin, easy to carry (obviously, since you always need to have it on hand!) and its shape is slender. The inner notebooks that are inserted are usually 10.8x21 cm, so you know.
So, if you are a frantic traveler who likes to document your adventures, the Midori is for you! However, as you were told a little earlier, the midoris have many other skills. Many people use them as a diary, drawing book, base to make mini planners or as an Art Journal project. Another interesting aspect of the midoris is the inner notebooks. Since they are removable, you can change them as they end without having to change your favourite cover.
There are several models of midoris depending on the brands and of course full of interior notebooks of different styles. But if you love manual work, you may want to create your own notebooks and decorate them with the scrapbook materials you have on hand. That's why we'll show you in a few steps how to make your Midori notebooks. Let's go, take note! Webster's Pages has designed plastic pockets as an additional accessory to add (and not lose) your cut-outs, decorations and cards. An excellent idea! And if you have a Fuse Photo Sleeve, you can make them yourself! Of course, as we said, you can also create interior or exterior flaps and pockets on your notebooks to keep even more things and especially to develop your creative side by decorating everything.
There you go, your Midori is ready. But still the most fun step: the decoration! Use your Midori to write, draw, practice lettering or make a photo montage. If you want to reflect a trip, it is best to combine your photos with handwritten notes, scrapbook decoration elements such as adhesive letters, washi-tapes, cutting dies, stamps, etc. You can also, as we said earlier, use it in your daily life as a diary, notebook, mini Project Life, etc. You can practice calligraphy, draw with watercolours or create small mixed media projects. Whatever your choice, your creativity will be king to fill all your pages. So, how will you complete your Midori? The possibilities are unlimited.
