Paper Trimmers
A scrapbooking paper trimmer is an essential tool, as it will save a lot of time when it comes to measuring and cutting papers. You can obtain the desired size quickly, even of several sheets at once. Read more
Trimmers feature a ruler on the top side to help you get a precise cut. To cut, place the paper in line with the top horizontal ruler at the desired length, and cut with the blade by sliding it along the vertical track.
The blade can be replaced with a new one when it no longer makes a clean cut. You will find replacement blades for most trimmers. There are two types of blades: sliding blades, which cut like a cutter, and rotary blades, which are round.
As for the size of the trimmers, they range from the smallest 15 cm. (perfect for carrying around with you) to the largest ones of almost 40 cm.
Cutter Scrapbooking
A precision cutter or a craft knife is very useful for smaller and more precise cuts. They will allow you to cut intricate patterns or make little straight cuts along with the help of the metal ruler. The precision cutter is the most popular type, and you can find ergonomic models and even some with a rotary blade. As with trimmers, replacement blades are also available.
The rotary cutter is perfect for less rigid materials, such as fabric or foil sheets.
If you want to cut thicker materials such as cardboard, a craft cutter with a larger and stronger blade is more suitable.

Most scrapbooking trimmers are not just for cutting, as some of them are also used for folding. The board incorporates indentations to make folds with the help of a bone folder that comes with some scrap trimmers. Others include a piece similar to an unsharpened blade, to mark and not cut. Because of this dual function, these boards are known as "Trim & Score".
Scrapbooking Cutting Tools
Do not confuse a trimmer with a scrapbooking guillotine. The difference is that the latter performs the cutting by lowering an arm or lever that has a blade along its entire length. A guillotine can cut thicker materials or more sheets at once, but it may not be as precise as a guillotine. If you are hesitating between buying a scrapbooking guillotine or a trimmer, this blog post may help you decide.
