A stroll through Cervantes' Madrid
In 1566, Miguel de Cervantes moved to Madrid for the first time, following in the footsteps of the Court.
So many centuries later, it is still possible to follow the trail of the author of Don Quixote through the streets of the city.
This book proposes (map at the ready) a stroll from the current Plaza de Oriente to the Plaza de las Cortes, a walk of no more than two hours with a relaxed gait to recall the city Cervantes knew.
Along this route we can imagine markets, dens, convents, churches, theatres and shops to get a closer look at the places where he lived and where he wrote a large part of his work. And, although in reality only a few commemorative plaques remain of him, at the end of the itinerary you will be able to feel him as alive as when he wrote Don Quixote.
