From a small picturesque farmhouse in the fertile fields and meadows of Normandy, David Hockney followed the changing seasons through 2020 and into the new year. He used his iPad to spontaneously capture his impressions of the landscape around him: he captured the first buds of spring, the scent of summer, the saturated colours of autumn and the distinct shapes of dark branches in winter. The 220 iPad paintings (plus four additional ones) included in this book are printed in six colours to reflect the full richness of the artist's vision. A brief introduction written by Hockney himself reveals how this planned project became a lifeline during COVID confinement, from which he spread his message of hope: Remember you can't cancel spring.
