Linoleum sheet with Essdee mesh

• Linoleum is a material that is used to make prints on various supports such as paper or fabrics, which is carved in the same way as if it were a block of wood, but it is much easier because it is a softer material.
• Essdee linen plates have a particularly smooth finish so that the resulting print is ideal for students and teachers alike.
• They are made with natural ingredients such as linseed oil and highly ground wood, so it is biodegradable. It can be used with water- and oil-based inks and prints well on a wide range of papers, cardboard and fabrics.
• The surface that will be printed will be the areas of the linoleum that we have left intact, while we will extract the areas that we want to remain blank with tools such as gouges. The technique is called "relief engraving", because the images result from inking a plate on which the drawing is raised.
• Something important that you should keep in mind when using this technique is that the image that will appear on the paper will be the opposite of how you drew it on the linoleum sheet.
• It is very appropriate for achieving images of great expressive force, with thick and aggressive strokes, especially if you use black ink on light paper.
• The iron has a gray color, but you can dye it the color you want before making your design to better see the areas where you are removing the product and thus see how the design is turning out.
