Do you have a Big Shot or an Evolution machine and you want to make the most of it? Well, prepare your favourite dies and your cutting machines because we have two cool techniques for your future projects!
You may be a little tired of using the same dies and don't know what to do with them if you have had one of these two machines for a while. Therefore, if you want to give a whole new life to your favourite dies, these two techniques can be useful and once we get the hang of it. And no worries, these techniques are really easy.
Let's go for it!
Partial cutting with dies
This technique creates a half die-cut, half engraved effect. Just four easy steps:

1. Cut a piece of paper and make a small indentation in the middle of the paper. The best way is to use this technique, for example, on a card. The fold you just made will set the front of the postcard.
2. Next step! Place the die, taking into account the middle mark you have made on the paper. This way, part of the die will be above the line and part of the die will be below the line. Secure the die with a bit of Washi-tape so that it won't move.
3. The innovation of this technique is that the upper part of the line will have a cut, and the lower part will be embossed. For the lower part, use Texturez and Silicone Rubber (they are the right ones to make embossing), and run the sandwich through the machine. Once you have finished, place the pads in the usual way, covering only the top of the line, so you can achieve that partial cut.
4. Now all you have to do is decorate it as you like!
This technique is ideal for greetings, postcards, place cards... It looks really professional.

If you want a more simple version of this technique, or you don't have the necessary pads to make the embossing, here's our suggestion: do the same, but without the embossing of the lower part of the postcard.
It's a perfect alternative where you can finish the design by stamping the blank area.
This technique is ideal for creating cards and giving them some volume or a 3-D look. You'll definitely succeed with it!

Making Shaker Cards with dies
If you have Framelit Dies (those that create frame shapes of different sizes), this idea is very useful. We're going to create sequinned cards or postcards! The so-called Shaker Cards.
1. Choose the die you like the most and with your Big Shot or Evolution machine, cut about 6 to 8 frames. These frames are made by using two dies of different sizes, the same shape but in a slightly smaller size. They can simultaneously be cut, with a little washi-tape you'll ensure that it doesn't move when introduced into the machine.
2. Use the measure of the smallest frame to cut a hole in one of the sides of the card.
3. Stick a cut-out sheet of acetate onto this hole (it doesn't have to be perfect, it won't be visible) and then place all the frames on top of each other.
4. Place sequins, glitter, or any other similar decoration on the inside of the hole. Close it with a piece of paper or cardboard with the final shape of your card. We suggest using adhesive foam tape, to obtain a uniform appearance. Now, shake the card! Isn't it super fun?

A different option to make the most of it and give a new life to your Framelite dies! These are very basic dies, but they have many uses and possibilities.
Of course, whoever has a Big Shot or an Evolution machine has a treasure, because of their many features. And once again it's proved that with just a few dies we can do a lot of beautiful and different things ā it's all about experimentation!
