Nuvo Drops are one of those products that everybody loves, they have a wide range of colours and different finishes, so we can do a thousand different things with these little drops of colour. But do you really know all the things that Nuvo products allow you to do?

We all know the most famous technique in which Nuvo Drops are used, the small drops of colour that we can form to decorate many of our projects. Making them is very easy, just deposit some liquid on a surface, let it dry for a few hours and then, take them off. That’s all you need to do!

The surface we use to make our colour drops and the time we let the enamel dots dry, will vary a lot on the finish result, but we have a whole post explaining how to do it, you can read it by clicking here.

In addition to these products, we can use some other products from the brand that will give different textures and finishes to our projects. Some of these projects are their embossing powders, mousses, or their pastes, currently in two different finishes, glacier and glimmer. All of them offer great versatility that will allow us to create unique projects.

Different techniques with Nuvo

Embossing and Nuvo Drops

Making this splendid technique is very easy, you’ll see. Just emboss the material you’ve chosen to work with (scrapbooking paper, cardstock or acetate) and then apply the Nuvo Drops. It doesn’t matter which side of the paper you choose to apply the Nuvo Drops, that’s totally up to you! You can use the ones you want but if you have chosen to work with the acetate, we recommend you to use the Stickles (which is a very similar product to the Nuvo, but from Ranger brand and are translucent) or the Nuvo Jewel Drops (that are translucent too), so it will have a very elegant effect on the acetate.

Shaker Cards with Nuvo Drops

Maybe you already knew this technique, but we love it and that's why we wanted to include it here. Besides, it's super easy to do, we just need to make a shaker card and some drops of enamel that we had previously made. We can play with several factors as color combinations, the same colour palette but with different textures and finishes, using just one or two colours… The most difficult thing when making these shaker cards with Nuvo Drops would be deciding which colours we want to use.

Create bases with Nuvo Drops

We can create beautiful bases for our Mixed Media projects very easily and quickly with the help of Nuvo Drops. Choose the colors you want to use, put some liquid paint on your sheet, and spread it with a spatula. It doesn't have to be perfect, dare to play with different colours and see the result!

Our creativity will be of great help in this technique since we can make different combinations of colors, make gradients or play with the different finishes Nuvo offers. We can create a base with our Crystal Nuvo Drops and, once it has dried, give it a touch of shine with the Nuvo Glitter Drops. We can also use the Nuvo Vintage Drops range to give an older look to our project or the Crystal Gloss Drops if we want it to have a lot of light but don't want to add glitter.

Use a stencil and Nuvo Drops

You may have once thought that these two elements are incompatible but nothing could be further from the truth. We normally use stencils with inks, gelattos, or masks, but have you ever tried using them with Nuvo Drops? You'll see how much you'll love the result. Place the stencil on your paper and deposit a generous amount of your favourite colours. The more product you put in, the more volume you’ll give to your project. You can use a sponge to spread the pigment as much as you like. Wait a few seconds before removing the stencil, but do not wait until the Nuvo Drops have completely dried. Carefully, remove the stencil and you’ll have a beautiful background!

Pops of colour

With the Nuvo Drops we can give our projects a very subtle touch that will make a big difference on the final result. There are many different ways we can add some pops of colour, we can add a few notes of colour to our die-cuts, for example.

We’ll add extra volume and a glossy effect that will catch your eye and make you love the result. Also, we can make some ombrĆ© effect. Try to find a similar colour to the paper or cardboard that we’re using and make a gradient with the help of one, two or more colours. Our  recommendation is to use the glitter finish, to make it stand out a bit more. The effect is incredible.
