Technical description
Crackle Medium Weathered Wood Crackle DecoArt
- Weathered Wood is a crackle medium that can be used with Americana or Crafter's Acrylics.
- It allows a weathered, crackled, antiqued or weathered finish to be achieved on most hard craft surfaces.
- Paintable surfaces: wood, papier-mâché, plaster, bisque pottery, cardboard, paper, resin.
- Additional decorative ideas and applications.
- To use, apply a base coat of acrylic paint in the colour of your choice. Allow to dry.
- Apply an even coat of Americana Weathered Wood with a brush, not too many strokes. Allow to dry.
- Apply a top coat of contrasting acrylic paint over Americana Weathered Wood.
- Uncovered areas can be touched up immediately.
- When using Weathered Wood, the thickness of the top coat directly influences the size of the crackle finish.
- The thicker the top coat, the larger the cracks will be.
- Apply the top coat by dabbing with a sponge to get small cracks in all directions.
- You can either weather, shade or paint over the dry, cracked surface before sealing, or seal the piece with a light coat of matt spray and then weather, shade or paint over the sealed surface.
- The final seal should be quite thick.
- For spectacular results, use a black top coat over a base coat of Dazzling Metallics Glorious Gold (DA71).
- Use Weathered Wood on new furniture and accessories to turn them into instant antiques.
- Royal Metallics and Dazzling Metallics will not crack when used as a top coat, but are ideal as a base coat.
- Weathered Wood is not recommended for use on pieces that will be exposed to weather or water.
- Paint with horizontal brush strokes to create horizontal cracks and with vertical brush strokes to create vertical cracks.
- Various formats available
