When he died, his name was forgotten, except to a few Dutch collectors and art dealers. Outside Holland, his works were even wrongly attributed to other artists. It was not until the mid-19th century that Vermeer came to the attention of the international art world, which, seeing with favour his narrative precision, meticulous textural detail and majestic planes of light, discovered a genius and never looked away again.
This edition brings together the complete catalogue of Vermeer's work in a compact format.
