Hilma af Klint is today recognised as a pioneer of abstract art. Her early 20th century work predates the first purely abstract paintings of Kandinsky, Mondrian and Malevich.
Now, for the first time, af Klint's approximately 1,600 works have been collected in a Catalogue RaisonnƩ. His work must be seen and appreciated within series of paintings that often depict specific themes, and this groundbreaking publication, divided into seven volumes, allows this to be done.
Throughout his life, af Klint used research methods to try to understand the spiritual contexts of the world. She studied plants and other objects in their geometric form, convinced that nature was perfect and that we humans only needed to observe it more closely. This concept is explored in Volume V.
