Vincent Van Gogh: The complete paintings

The story of Vincent van Gogh is one of the most tragic in the history of art.

Today, he is celebrated around the world as one of the most important painters of all time, recognised with sold-out exhibitions, acclaimed museums and record auction prices in the tens of millions of dollars. Yet while painting the canvases that would later become these sold-out modern masterpieces, van Gogh battled not only the disinterest of his contemporary public, but also devastating bouts of mental illness, with bouts of depression and crippling anxiety that would ultimately claim his life in 1890, when he committed suicide shortly after his 37th birthday.

This comprehensive study of Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) combines a detailed monograph on his life and art with a complete catalogue of his 871 paintings.
