Nico, founder and creative of Dayka, teaches us how to apply for the transfers. It is very easy to use (once you see the steps for the first time) and it looks superb. Once dry is similar to a painting or have placed a sticker with a clear background. We're sure you've already seen Dayka's transfers, with that Parisian vintage style.

These are the materials you need:
- A surface on which you are going to place the transfer. It can be a wooden box, a letter, a table... you have to paint it beforehand.
- A transfer you like.
- Transfer medium.
- A brush.

We are going to decorate a wooden surface. We've previously painted it white, then applied a layer of the transfer medium and let it dry completely.
TIP: Dip the chosen transfer motif in cold water, so it will come off from the backing paper. A couple of minutes will be enough for it to come off easily.

Now it's time to place the design, just pay attention and place it in the position it comes in, not upside down. Use a dry cloth to firmly stick the design in place, and to remove any creases and excess water. Let it dry completely.

how to apply transfers

Once half an hour has passed (it will take more or less time depending on the temperature and humidity) and you can see that it is completely dry, you can lift the thin plastic sheet that acted as a support for the transfer. Now you can see the printed image on your furniture, box, frame, or whatever you're using. If you like a vintage or aged effect, you can use fine-grained sandpaper to slightly roughen the design. This way it will look much more natural.

If you want to protect the design, you can apply a coat of varnish or wax, although this is not essential. Finally, we would like to show you some examples of transfers made by the Dayka team. The effect looks great and adds an even more vintage touch to furniture restoration using Chalky Paint.
