The same question always arises when preparing to attend a scrapbooking workshop: what exactly do I need? What materials can I leave at home? In this post, you'll find out the materials you always have to include in your bag.

We love workshops. It's a great occasion to learn new techniques and meet people that share the same interest. It's not a secret that many great friendships in the hobby have come out of workshops.

Many workshops include the necessary materials, but usually, you will have to bring your basic tools with you. And here comes the big dilemma: "What materials do I really need?", "If I leave this at home, I'm sure I'll need it later". Well, in this post we have collected a series of tools and materials that you should never forget. Let's take a look at them!

Mini trimmer

Something that is never missing in any scrapbooking project is paper, and a tool to cut it is necessary. The best tools are a trimmer or a guillotine, and choosing one or another often depends only on your personal preferences. Its mini format makes it very practical and allows you to do the job quickly, making it the perfect tool for these occasions. Although this kind of tool does not offer such a large surface for measuring the paper as the standard version, you can still work with them without any problem, although to work at home every day we recommend using their big sister.
The mini version allows you to cut the paper, and as it is small and light, we can take it anywhere without any problem! It is a must to carry with you at all times.

Mini cutting base

Of course, you need a cutting mat. We already know that there are many types of cutting bases, of different materials (we can find them, for example, in self-healing material or glass) and in many sizes.
A cutting base is a must since it prevents the table to get dirty or damaged, and you can cut over it securely and safely thanks to its self-healing material. For this reason, it is best to take one to the workshop, and a mini one is a great idea. It has all the characteristics of a regular cutting mat but in a mini format, perfect to carry in your bag or backpack easily.

Adhesives

They can never be missing in a basic kit, and it is important to take your favourites with you. If you are not sure what kind of adhesives are the most suitable for you, we recommend you to take a look at this post: "Scrapbooking adhesives", where you'll find everything related to adhesives and scrapbooking.

We recommend you always have liquid glue with you, either BLOK or Tacky Glue; and double-sided tape. If you have some space in your kit, include a silicone brush to spread the liquid glue and an adhesive eraser to rectify in case you make a mistake.

Basic tool case

Of course, there are a number of tools that you need to have in your kit at all times. As you will use these tools for all our projects, we recommend that they are of good quality so that your projects are always perfect.

Some of these tools are a good cutter or scrapbooking knife; a metal ruler (and much better if it has a cork base or other non-slip material); a bone folder, better if it is made of teflon so that it does not leave any shiny mark on the paper (if you want to know more about folders, you can visit our post "Finding the best bone folder", a pair of scissors, and of course, a pencil and rubber.

Now you can add any other instrument that you consider essential. You can add anything until you fill the case you have chosen. On our website, you can find some cases that will be perfect for this kind of event as they fit a lot of tools.

Shoulder bag

Almost as important as the materials are where you're going to store them. Our recommendation is a Shoulder Bag, it is the perfect size to store all the essential materials without missing anything and at the same time, not carry too much. Sometimes, making a workshop bag is similar to making a holiday suitcase, full of unnecessary things. We R Memory Keepers has a line of different models of bags, backpacks, and briefcases to choose the one that suits you best. The Crafter's Backpack, for example, has a large capacity as it can fit papers up to 30x30cm. If you prefer something even bigger, you can opt for the Rolling Bag suitcases, which have wheels, making them very easy to carry around.

These are the basic materials that we consider essential to take to a scrapbooking workshop, what are yours? Would you add any to this list? Tell us all about it in the comments ?
