Finding your scrapbooking style, is sometimes difficult! Here are some ideas to help you find it. When you start scrapbooking you don't know what style to be inspired by, but with practice and time you will find your style.
One of the most important things is to practice, practice and practice until you feel comfortable with the result. Your style will distinguish your projects from others, and you should feel comfortable working, and also, it will help you choose the brands and products that will be your allies in this creative process. Finding a unique style is important, although it is not a high priority you should not obsess about finding it. Remember: nobody is born knowing.

If you still don't know your style, here are some ideas to help you find it:
- Surf the net: If you're new in this hobby - or even if you have been around here for a while - you can look for some inspiration on the net. Take a look at Pinterest or Instagram and get ideas for your projects. You'll end up pinning or sharing images with a similar look and feel, and that will help you define your artistic personality.
- Get inspiration from the experts: whether they are behind a big brand or the top scrapbooking bloggers, their photos and tutorials help us learn different techniques and tricks to practice. Sometimes, their images and tutorials allow you to expand your imagination.
- Create a moodboard: If you are the type of person who needs to feel the materials and doesn't like the digital part, you can create a moodboard. A moodboard is a kind of inspiration board, very useful before starting a project. On this board, which you can make with a corkboard or a paper base -or even use a notebook-, you can add cut-outs of things you like. They don't necessarily have to be scrapbook projects, you can also add cut-outs from decoration, cinema, illustration, etc. Anything that inspires you! You can also add phrases or concepts that help you define the project or your style.
Once you have made your moodboard, put it aside and come back to it after a short time. This way you will be able to see what you like about it, what it tells you and that will help you to make a project with your style.
This moodboard will also be very useful to help you make a shopping guide for the materials you need.
- Try and practice: the best technique to find your style, without a doubt, is to practice non-stop. Don't be afraid of making mistakes or not getting the result you imagined in your mind. This happens all the time, doesn't it? But it will help you to enjoy what you are doing and little by little, your personality will emerge.
To find your artistic personality, it is important to know the different styles existing. This way you can find out which one you feel more comfortable with and in which range of colours and materials you prefer to work.
Let's take a quick look at the most common scrapbooking styles so that you can dive more deeply into a particular style or discard some materials that don't fit your tastes.
VINTAGE STYLE
If you like everything retro and like to give an aged look to your projects, vintage is your thing. The colours that usually define vintage are browns and beiges. Of course, metallic ornaments will never be missing as decorative elements.
Don't hesitate to use distress inks, and you can get inspiration from Tim Holtz's work and materials.

SHABBY CHIC OR ROMANTIC
If you prefer floral prints with an antique feel and pastel shades such as pale pink or beige, you belong to this group. Decorative elements like bows, flowers, tulle, or lace ribbons are always present. This style also combines very well with some Mix-Media techniques.
The designs by Dayka Trade and Prima Marketing are perfect for this romantic style.
AMERICAN STYLE
If you like brightly coloured paper and modern decorative elements, then you are American Style. Your strong points are the different paper scraps combined, the die-cut letters or phrases in English, and, surely, you will be inspired by Amy Tangerine's projects, all very cheerful!

CLEAN & SIMPLE
This one is in line with the American Style, but much more minimalist. Your motto is "less is more". You avoid the tendency to cover the whole page and prefer some blank spaces to focus the attention on a specific part of the project. Straight cuts, few colours, and geometric shapes define you as an artist.
MIXED MEDIA
And, on the other side, it's Mixed Media, where the motto is "never enough". Here you can put into practice a lot of painting techniques, printmaking, etc. Improvisation defines you, and you are not afraid of challenges, complicated backgrounds, and textures.
