Ranger

In this post, we're explaining their most relevant qualities, which are a lot, and it's worth discovering them. Dylusions Paint is acrylic paint from the brand Ranger, and their creator is the unique Dyan Reaveley. Only a mind as creative as hers could come with these paints! Dylusions Paint is a very creamy paint with intense colours and a matte finish. And you may be wondering what makes this Ranger paints different from other acrylic paints. They are designed for Mixed Media, so, they solve the little problems that other acrylic paints can give.

Dylusions advantages

- They are creamy paints, but they have a slightly translucent finish once they have been spread, which is a great advantage - unlike other paints that are very opaque - to be able to use different colours and mix them to create our Mixed Media backgrounds.

- They cover the surfaces well, and they do not go through the sheet of our Art Journal, deform it, nor wrinkle it, as it happens with other paints, spoiling the project.

- It dries very fast, which is great because you don't have to wait long to continue applying elements to the project. However, it dries so fast that if you want to mix several paints, you have to act quickly.

- The paint, once dried, is permanent, perfect for working with Mixed Media.

- This paint doesn't create any texture, so once it has dried you can work the surface and you won't find lumps or anything that would prevent you, for example, from writing with a pen or marker. If you want to create textures, there are plenty of products and materials specifically for that.

- You can apply it to other surfaces, and although it is designed for paper, it also works perfectly on wood. It dries fast and only needs one coat to cover well.

Dylusions techniques

Therefore, as you can see, there are many advantages to creating backgrounds for tags, layouts, our creative diaries, etc. The application of Dylusions Paint is very simple, and we're showing you different techniques, for you to find some inspiration. Before using them, remember to open the bottles with the pot straight up. The paints are very liquid, so you must open them carefully to avoid paint leaks. You can work with these paint in different ways, here are some of our suggestions:

Finger painting

This technique, as well as being fun, will allow you to have great control. Apply a bit of paint with your finger on the surface and then spread it with a damp baby wipe. The colours will fade and blend, creating unique atmospheres. If you prefer, you can also use Dylusions sprays and a stencil or mask to work on the surface, but remember that Dylusions sprays are not opaque!

Painting with a roller

This way you can easily spread the paint on the paper base. Use a spatula to put a little paint on a surface and run the rubber roller over it, spreading the paint. You'll get a different and unpredictable look to your design.

Stencil application

It's perfect to create backgrounds with stencils. Spread some paint with a spatula and then apply some ink to an ink applicator. Now, with small taps, apply the ink to your project.

Sponge application

Make gentle circular movements to mix the colours. As the Dylusions dry quickly, you should also mix the different paints quickly if you want to create those multicoloured backgrounds. And be careful with the sponge applicators, don't mix the paints in their respective pots! It is always advisable to put some paint on a separate surface and not to take them directly from the pot to avoid this happening (or reserve a sponge for each colour).

Painting with a brush

Paint with a brush as you would do with any other type of paint. As Dylusions dry so fast, it gives you a lot of possibilities if you don't want to mix colours.

Stamping

Apply some paint to your stamp with the help of a roller, and then you can stamp. Please note that the stamp must be cleaned quickly, as it dries quickly, and it will be more difficult to remove the residue! The effect is not neat, but it feels as if it has been painted by hand.

And you, what would you dare to try Dylusions Paint with? They are almost a must if you practice Mixed Media or want to add colour to your scrapbooking projects.
