We want everything at weddings to be perfect, including the invitations. After all, they are our guests' first contact with the wedding. That's why we're giving you some ideas for making your wedding invitations.
Wedding invitations should reflect the style of the wedding, which is why it is such an important element when planning this event. We can choose between different materials, styles, calligraphy, illustrations, and tone. In this post, you'll find some easy ideas to succeed with wedding invitations and make your guests love them.
The first thing to keep in mind is that attention to detail is essential. The combination of materials and design will make your invitation stand out. In addition, some guests will likely decide to keep this invitation as a memory of the event. Therefore, choosing quality materials is quite important. The cardboard for the invitation itself, the paper for the envelope, and the rest of the decorative elements should be of good quality so that the invitation looks elegant.
Now, let's see some of the materials that we can use for our invitations.
Wedding invitations with vellum
Vellum is a very popular material for wedding invitations, as it gives an elegant and professional finish to your designs. It is a translucent and very thin paper, very delicate. This delicacy is what will bring elegance to the project. The possibilities this material offers are many, since you can combine it with different techniques to obtain original and spectacular results.
Wedding invitations with foil and vellum
Foil is a very common material in scrapbooking and there are different tools with which you can apply it. Combining it with vellum gives us very fine results thanks to the brightness of the foil in contrast with the paper.
You can apply foil with different tools, such as the Foil Minc by Heidi Swapp or the Foil Quill by We R Memory Keppers. The foil can be applied to all the text on our invitations, or simply to highlight one of the elements.

Wedding invitations with vellum and embossing
One of the most common techniques in scrapbooking is embossing. There are two types, heat embossing, and cold embossing. Vellum is an excellent material for either of these two techniques.
Cold embossing enhances the subtlety of the material, turning it into an element that adds elegance and fragility to the invitation. All you need is a die-cutting machine and a texture folder. However, you have to be careful because it is such a fine material that it can easily break when embossing. A single run through our die-cutting machine is more than enough to achieve the desired result.
Cold embossing offers many design and colour possibilities, as we combine different designs with embossing powder colours. Adding metallic tones is always a good idea as they add elegance to the design.
Wedding invitations with natural elements
The presence of natural elements in weddings never goes out of style and gives a romantic and elegant touch to the decoration. If your wedding is going to have any of these elements, you can also incorporate them into your wedding invitations and use, for example, dried flowers.
Dried flowers are quite versatile as you can integrate them into your invitations in several ways. One of the most common is closure. Whether by using a ribbon or a sealing wax to close the envelope, you can add a small bouquet to give it a decorative touch. It will undoubtedly be an element that will immediately catch the attention of the guests. If you are afraid of damage during mailing, you can put some kind of flower inside the envelope.

Calligraphy on wedding invitations
It is advisable not to forget any component of the invitations, and one of the most important is the calligraphy. If we have decided to make them by hand, we have to take into account that the calligraphy will not be identical on all the invitations and this will also give them a special touch as no two will be the same. However, this does not mean that we should disregard this feature, a bad calligraphy can spoil the design of the invitation. So, we recommend that if calligraphy is not your thing, you should hire a professional to do it. Without a doubt, the result will be worth it.
Invitation envelopes
Invitations are not the end of your work. The envelope is a very important element, as it is the first thing the guests will see. Therefore, they have to match the invitation, and you should try to avoid a basic white envelope as much as possible. Simply by using a coloured envelope (it can be cream if we want to keep the envelope sober) and use a satin material.
Now you can decide on the sealing method. The possibilities are almost endless: you can use a ribbon (you will find hundreds of designs and materials), a raffia string if your invitation has a more shabby style, or use a sealing wax seal, which you can even personalize with your initials or the date of the wedding.
