The Magic Mat is almost an essential element when it comes to die-cutting. For those who don't know them yet, it's a cutting mat that replaces one of those in our die-cutting machine, but it's much more long-lasting.
After the success of the turquoise Magic Mat, the pink ones arrived, but these are magnetic. Both are very similar (except for the magnetic qualities), and sandwiches are made the same way. If you want to know everything about the magnetic Magic Mat, visit this post, where we give you some tips: "Magnetic Magic Mats are finally here".

How do I return the Magic Mat to its original shape?
Through use, the Magic Mat bends, as it is a flexible material. However, one of the advantages of using a Magic Mat over a regular cutting base is that you can fix this. While the transparent plates of the Big Shot will bend and deteriorate and there is nothing you can do to avoid the damage; you can restore the original shape of the Magic Mat. It's very easy and there are even two different options to do so.
Soaking in hot water
Fill a recipient with hot water in which you can completely submerge the Magic Mat and leave it there for a few minutes. By doing so, the Magic Mat will become soft, and you will be able to correct its shape. After letting it there for a while, take it out, dry it well and put weight on it. After a while, remove the weight and you will see that your Magic Mat has returned to its original shape.
Apply some heat
Another way to soften the Magic Mat back to its original shape is to apply heat with a heat gun. Just apply heat evenly over the surface. Try not to apply too much heat in the same place to avoid damaging the surface. Little by little you will see how the Magic Mat recovers its original shape.
How to remove marks from die-cutting?
Those marks that we see on the Magic Mat, as a result of different die-cutting, are not from the blade of the dies, but from small pieces of paper that have stuck to the surface. You can easily solve this.

While you apply heat, either immersed in hot water or heating it with the heat gun, run a small brush over it, and you will see how easily you can remove paper residues, leaving the surface of your Magic Mat completely smooth.
Following these steps, we've managed to make our Magic Mat look almost like a brand new one. All these tips are suitable for any of our Magic Mat models, both the turquoise and the pink magnetic ones.
