Angelus Alcohol Leather Dye 507 Pro Black 89ml

  • The most heavily pigmented dye on the market.
  • Can also be diluted for desired colour results.
  • A permanent liquid dye used for many applications (like gourds, stone, woodworking, etc.) but designed for use on smooth leather articles.
  • Guaranteed to penetrate leather and form a lasting colour which will not peel, crack, or wash off.
  • Excellent for use in manufacturing or recolouring saddles, tack, shoes, belts, purses, wood, etc.
  • For sneaker restoration and custom projects, it won't peel, crack or fade.
  • Ideal for leather work or custom sneaker, boots, or dress shoes, and sneaker restoration projects.
  • Each Dye includes one Wool Dauber applicator
  • Angelus Leather Dye is non-photochemical reactive.
  • Dyeing leather is different from painting; it soaks into the material rather than sitting on top of it like paint.
  • The final colour depends on the base colour of the leather, so a white surface dyed with red will turn pink, not true red.
  • Angelus leather dyes are designed to enhance and transform brown leather, not lighten it. Keep this in mind when choosing your dye colour.
  • It works excellently on leather and fabrics but also on other materials such as wood and stone, and is especially useful for furniture.
  • Quick guide:
    • Clean and prepare leather surfaces using 3-5 passes of Leather preparer and deglazer using our applicators, cotton balls, or a rag, acetone can also be used.
    • Wait for leather to dry a few minutes. Wipe down with a microfiber towel to remove all lint.
    • Using wool dauber (one is supplied with each dye) soak the dye on the dauber.
    • To clean, dilute, or mix leather dye colors, use Angelus Dye Reducer Solvent
    • Be careful of what you are dyeing. If you are dyeing a large spot use the dauber fully soaked. If you are doing a smaller section a paint brush or much less dye on the dauber may be required.
    • Make sure to soak the article you are dyeing. Dye works by soaking into the item you are dyeing. It does not act like paint. Feel free to soak and evenly rub across to make sure all is even.
    • Leave to dry. You may see a tint, bronzing, or any different finish. Do not panic, this is just residual dye on the surface.
    • After dyeing, use one of the many Angelus finishers.
    • Optional: Wipe with a microfiber towel to remove excess dye pigment. If there is still a sheen or tint use some alcohol on said microfiber and wipe down quickly. Do not let the alcohol sit on the item or else you risk lifting some of the dye and discoloring. Once done the tint should disappear and it will just be the color.
    • If you wish to dye the item more of the colour complete steps 5-7 again.
    • To protect and nourish the leather, use leather balm or 004 Neutral shoe polish. If you do not want the shine of the shoe polish just lightly buff versus a full buff to shine. If you dyed the article a black or brown we would suggest even buffing with a colored shoe polish or lustre cream.

NOTE: Please remember that dye is meant to be permanent. Once applied it may be difficult or impossible to remove.
Penetrating paint is excellent for dyeing a light colour in a darker shade, but you should not use dye to lighten a darker colour!
For permanent dyeing of suede, please use Angelus Suede Dye.
