Cricut cutting mats

Cricut's cutting mats are colour coded for ease of use with the right tools for all your projects.

The blue LightGrip mat has a very low adherence and is perfect for all lightweight materials such as paper, vellum paper, thin cardboard or vinyl. It is compatible with Cricut Joy, Explore and Maker.

The green colour is for all standard and common materials or materials that are slightly thicker than the previous colour, such as heat transfer vinyl or cardboard. Again, compatible with all three types of Cricut.

The strongest mat is called StrongGrip and is purple. It is only compatible with the Maker and Explore and is suitable for thick and somewhat rigid materials such as leather, glittery cardboard, reinforced fabric or cardboard.

Finally, the pink mat is the FabricGrip, designed to make quality creations with all kinds of fabrics and crepe paper with your Maker or Explore.

Blades and Tips

Apart from its quality, Cricut knows that it's easy to get confused with so many choices. And colour coding seems to be a very simple de rigueur option for determining which tool is suitable for which purpose.

· Gold: fine tip.

· Black: deep cutting blade.

· Pink: fabric blade (which, if you notice, matches the cutting mat)

· Blue: foil transfer.

Cricut Explore and Maker

The advantage of Cricut is that since Explore and Maker have quite similar functionality, they also share their extensive range of tools for added convenience while keeping to the colour code.

So the fine tip blade, deep cut blade and fabric blade fit both machines, as does the foil transfer kit.

The Cricut Maker being top of the range offers more creative possibilities with an assortment of heads and blades from the QuickSwap range. The feature is that all the heads use the same housing, which makes changing them much quicker (hence the name) and very easy.

A total of six different heads for making grooves - single and double, engraving on metal, marking, embossing, making wavy marks and perforating.

Markers and other tools

The Explore and Maker also share the roll holder to hold vinyl for your larger projects and a stylus to mark your creations by hand.

But the variety of tools doesn't stop there. Lots of cutting tools, sure, but let's not forget about writing!

Cricut offers a range of water-based, non-toxic permanent markers and pens.
And if the Explore and the Maker share their selection, the Joy is not to be outdone with its own range.

Finishes can be coloured, glittery or metallic, the tip can be wide (1mm) or very fine (0.3mm) depending on the model, and some are even compatible with the Infusible Ink series to fine-tune all your customisable projects.
