Linoleum Slab

Linoleum can be carved just like wood, but much easily, since it’s a softer material.
The surface to be stamped has to be untouched, while the areas desired to be left blank have to be removed.
This technique is called “embossing”, since the images come from stamping the slab in which the drawing is in relief.
Another thing to have in mind when using this technique, is that the image once in paper will look mirrored as the way you carved it onto the linoleum.
It’s great to obtain images of great expressive force, with thick and aggressive strokes, especially if you use black ink on a white paper
