Red Magic Plastic

Crazy or magic plastic shrinks to as little as 50 per cent of its original size. Create solid plastic pieces for all your art and craft projects!

General instructions for using shrink plastic.

- Trace or draw a design onto the side of the film that has been sanded (transparent or matt). Use coloured pencils, permanent markers, paints, inks, etc.
- If using coloured pencils, sand the surface of the film with 300–400 grit sandpaper
- Before placing it in the oven, cut out the design using straight or decorative scissors, a craft knife, or a Sizzix, Evolution, Silhouette or Brother cutting machine.
- If, for example, you are making jewellery, punch holes in the film using a hole punch before baking.
- Preheat the oven to 150º (thermostat 5).
- Place the cut-out designs on the backing sheet that you will put in the oven (do not bake directly on the metal).
- Bake the designs in the oven, in a toaster or using a heat gun for approximately 2–3 minutes.
- Do not remove it from the oven until the piece is completely flat (the design will curl up and then flatten out)
- If the piece still curls even slightly, remove it and flatten it straight away by placing it under a book.
- Wear oven gloves to remove the piece from the oven.

It’s a fun craft that children and adults alike love. It can be cut out with scissors, a craft knife, dies, a Sizzix, etc. You can create key rings, figures, fridge magnets, badges or accessories for your felt dolls, soft toys, scrapbooking projects, jewellery, etc.
