Many of you have asked us how to make the perfect sandwich with your Sizzix Big Shot and the different types of Sizzix's die-cuts that there are available. We're going to explain everything, you'll see it's very easy, you just have to pay attention to the thickness of the die-cuts.

We've made an easy and funny tutorial for you using hamburger analogies that would solve all your doubts. Let's get started!

But... first things first. To begin with this explanation, it's fundamental to know all available die-cuts. We can distinguish them for its thickness:

Shall we begin?

BigZ Dies

They are multimaterial cut-dies, capable of cutting almost anything: cardboard, felt, EVA foam, fabric, foam, magnet, leather, wood veneer, fine aluminum and many other materials. They're black and are the thickest dies of all. With them, you'll make the easiest "sandwich".

Framelits

The Framelits' dies allow us to make more details and to be more precise. They're very thin and versatile cut-dies, since we can place them in any part of our project. They're great for creating windows in our scrapbooking cards or fun frames using different cut-dies sizes.

Thinlits

Thinlitis dies, just like the previous ones, are very thin dies and we can place them in any part of our material. So, here is a nice tip for you: to avoid the dies moving all over your material, use washi tape or masking tape in order to keep everything in place. We remove it as soon as we finnish to cut and that is all.

Suitable dies for the Sizzix: Marianne Design, XCut, Lifestyle, Cottage Cutz, Lawn Cuts, La La Land, Joy!Crafts...

These cutting templates work perfectly with our Sizziz. It is great to have a lot of different designs for our projects. They're as thin as Framelits and Thinlits and you should place at the Big Shot in the same way.

Sizzlits

They're designed, as well as the Framelits and the Thinlits, to cut thin materials as chipboard, EVA foam (2mm) and paper. These dies are a little bit thicker than Framelits, so you won't need as much as height as before.

Texture Embossing Folders

Texture embossing folders easily emboss your paper or craft metal to create an amazing embossed masterpiece. You can find out a lot of more uses for these embossing folders as you try new techniques with your inks and some sandpaper once you have embossed your material. The result is amazing!

You can use them to do some texture in any piece already embossed. If you prefer you can emboss just one side of your cards.

Embossing with Metallic dies like Framelits

We can use our metallic dies to more than just cut. Marianne Design dies have amazing embossed designs for you to be able to make at the same time the cut and the embossing. The result is a very detailed piece ready to decorate your project.
In the same way, we can use our framelits to create texture. This is the last sandwich we'll show you today. We're going to need the Sizzix Rubber Base and the Texturz Impression Pad to achieve embossing we want.
