How does a paper cutter works?

Guillotines cuts the paper with a blade that moves up and down to cut the paper, so it easier to get a clean and precise cut. They don’t tear the paper and allow us to have more than one blade at the same time, which is perfect for binding projects, invitations, to cut photographs…

Generally, they are a quite big and heavy tool that are mainly used in printing houses and it isn’t that common to have at home. That’s why we love this smaller and compact size that We R Memory Keepers has launched! A mini guillotine!

What are the differences between a guillotine and a trimmer?

These tools are very useful to cut photographs and papers in a very precise, accurate and straight line. Trimmers move a little blade on a track that you need to slide up and down your paper to trim it. Trimmers cut perpendicularly the paper, so the risk of tearing the paper is minimal.

Trimmer’s blades work like a cutter that we could be using manually, they sink into the paper and rip the paper from top to the bottom. They are very useful, light and many times we can find them in very compact sizes. The negative point? When the blade starts to wear away, they can tear a little bit the paper and the cut will not be as neat as at the beginning.
