A quick and easy way to bind an album is to use binder rings. Moreover, this allows us to adapt without problems to different shapes, sizes, thicknesses... And that's why we want to dedicate a post to this type of binding. Ring bindings are one of the most used and, they are, maybe, the first ones we learn to do. Besides being an easy way to bind, it adapts to all our designs and allows us to bind them in a fast and effective way. To make a binding with rings we simply make a perforation in one end of the pages we want toĀ bind, andĀ then we join them with the help of some rings. Ring binding

There areĀ manyĀ sizes of rings, so we can choose the one that best suits the thickness and size of our project. In addition, there are thousands of differentĀ coloursĀ so that we can combine it with the colours of our album. The wide range ofĀ coloursĀ that are currently on the market, also allows us to combine the rings with each other to add a different and original touch to our bindings.

Materials you need for ring bindings

We just need our album, rings and a Crop a Dile and if we want to give an even more polished look to our creations, some eyelets. -Crop A Tell: this tool is the one that will allow us to make the holes in our papers and cardboards. If you're not sure how to use it, take a look at our post, where we explain everything about this machine: Crop A Tell. -Eyelets: it's the perfect complement to the rings, and they will make a difference. It gives a more polished and professional look to the bindings. The Crop A Dile will also help you to place them so that you only have to add the rings later. We have also our own eyelets line, available in many colours, so the hardest part is choosing just one. Eyelets - ring bindings -Rings: once you know the thickness of your project, it's time to choose the rings. Look at the size you want and choose theĀ colourĀ that best matches your project. AtĀ CraftelierĀ Basics, we have recently added a wide range ofĀ coloursĀ in different sizes. You can find, from pastel shades like mints, pinks or baby blue to metallic shades like turquoise, rose gold, silver or gold in 30 mm, 45 mm or in 60 mm. Plus, our rings and buttonholes match! Rings

How to make a ring binder

As we have already told you, it is one of the easiest bindings. Once you have the pages of your album and decided on which sides you want to include the rings, make some holes with the help of the Crop A Dile. The number of holes will depend on the size of your album. There are projects that only require one ring, while for others, it is convenient to put more. The next step is to put the eyelets. Again, with the Crop A Tell, place the eyelets in the holes you've just drilled. Take your rings and put them in your album. In just a few minutes you've got your album ready.

Don't give up to beautiful spines

MakingĀ a ring binder doesn't mean you have to give up the spine of your album. If you want to bind with rings but you think it'll give a too casual touch to your project, don't worry, you can combine the elegance and robustness that the spine brings and the functionality of the rings in the same project. You just have to put more rings, or at least put two of them, one on the top and one on the bottom, so that it holds all the contents of your album and everything stays in place. Ring binding album

Shaped albums

If we are very sure we want to make a ring bindery, we can allow ourselves the pleasure of being creative and give an unexpected shape to our projects. For example, we can cut or die-cut the sheets of our album in the shape of a heart, star, circle, or, as we see in the following photos, in the shape of a tag or a shell. The rings adapt perfectly to any shape, which translates into great creative freedom. Shape albums - ring binding
