Adhesives are a fundamental element in scrapbooking: with them we create our projects and keep all the elements together. But we also want these projects to last for a long time, so not just any adhesive will do, it must be a quality adhesive.

As we have already mentioned, the adhesives we use in scrap and crafts must be free of acids and lignins so that they do not spoil the photographs or alter the colour of the paper. So before starting a project, make sure you have the right adhesive to keep your work in perfect condition.

Types of adhesive

We call consistent, or solid adhesives those that are not liquids (that contain water and have a fluid consistency) and are usually double-sided tapes, either with volume or without volume.

Solid adhesives will be useful in cases where we want to glue materials that can be wrinkled or damaged with a liquid glue. In addition, one of their great advantages is that they are instantaneous, it is not necessary to let them dry.

It must be taken into account that there is no perfect adhesive for everything, it will depend on what you want to glue and the result you want to obtain.

Double-sided tape

Double-sided tapes are, as the name suggests, tapes with adhesive on both sides. They provide a clean way of sticking items, especially paper and photographs, they do not get dirty and do not wrinkle the paper. They are available in different widths, from 3 mm thin (perfect for small details or shackers) to 5 cm wide (ideal for covering larger surfaces). You can cut them with your hands, and if you cut them with scissors, remember to use non-stick ones with teflon, as the adhesive could damage normal scissors.

If you want a quick and easy way to apply adobe tape without having to cut or remove the backing paper, you can opt for our double-sided tape dispensers.Ā  Perfect for carrying in a case due to their small size and ergonomic applicator, they are very comfortable to use! Apply the adhesive in a single stroke and you're ready to go.

They are available in both regular and dotted formats and you can find refills of both to reuse the applicator housing. Ā  Within the double-sided tapes, you also have available the extra-strong double-sided tapes (with the red lid). Use them when you need extra adhesion on some materials, such as acetate, gluing elements on textured bookbinding cloth, heavier pieces, etc. To cut this tape, it is necessary to use teflon scissors.

Adhesive foam mousse

If you want to add volume and depth to your projects, whether they are cards, layouts, album pages, etc., the best way to do it is with adhesive foam. Place it behind the piece you want to highlight and stick it wherever you want. It is also perfect for creating shakers.Ā  There are different thicknesses of foam, so you can create different levels of depth. Craftelier foam adhesive are available in black and white, and come in different sizes:Ā
  • Foam squares: they have a size of a few millimetres, with different thicknesses, and are ideal for small pieces.Ā
  • Foam tape: 18 mm wide and 2 metres long, with a thickness of 2 mm. Cut pieces as long as you need.Ā
  • Pre-cut foam tape: has the same measurements as the previous one, but cut into 1.9 x 1.3 cm pieces. Perfect for larger pieces or photos.Ā
  • Foam strips: pre-cut strips of 0,32 x 22,86 cm, perfect for shackers or thin elements.

Sticky shapes

They are dots or squares of solid glue, transparent, permanent, ultra strong and can be stuck on multiple surfaces. They are instant stick-on, so you don't have to wait for them to dry. As they are transparent, they are perfect for gluing vellum or translucent papers, because they can be easily concealed. The circles (dots) are available in sizes 5 mm and 9 mm in diameter, and the squares (squares) in sizes 5 x 5 mm and 10 x 10 mm. Stickers in Sticky, dots and Squares format

Complementary items

There are other products worth having on hand when using solid adhesives. They will make your job easier or help you solve any mistakes you might make. Adhesive liner lifting tool: with this tool, you can quickly and easily remove the liner from double-sided tapes and foam, without using your fingernails or sharp products that can damage your project. When you run its rough tip over the end of the release liner, it lifts up so you can remove it easily. Adhesive Eraser: If you put double-sided tape in a place where it shouldn't go or you've put too much, this eraser makes it easy to remove without damaging the paper. Simply run the eraser over it from the end, bit by bit. As the eraser wears down, you can cut it off to get the best result.Ā This eraser is acid-free and non-toxic and measures 7 x 5 x 1 cm.
