Vicki Boutin
Maybe you haven't heard this name yet, but stay with it because it's going to be on everyone's lips very soon. Vicki Boutin is the new designer on the American Crafts team and brings us one of the brand's great novelties: a Mixed Media collection.
So, who's Vicki Boutin? This Canadian designer, with a degree in Design and Fine Arts, discovered her love for scrapbooks and everything to do with paper many years ago. From her desire to save memories and photographs to her interest in a variety of techniques, Mixed Media, her true passion today, came to life. She loves to explore with the material and with the different techniques and as she says: "Try things at least once. You won't know if it's your style unless you try!" With this motto, who wouldn't try?
With a Mixed Media book under her arm and after working for different brands, she devotes herself to workshops in her native Canada, the United States and Europe, and teaching is something she loves, it's her way of helping others awaken their own creativity. Some of his projects and tricks you can discover in his blog, where he also tells us about his daily life.
In addition to her workshops, Vicki loves to document her family's day-to-day life and many of her works revolve around her children, to whom she dedicates many layouts. In addition, he loves to work in other formats, whether postcards, tags, etc., always under a mixture of techniques, in which there is usually no lack of stamps, prints and inks, because they are his preferred materials. With a very American style, works an original Mix Media, colourful and very personal, where the protagonists are the colours, textures, funky patterns and photographs.
Vicki Boutin's Mixed Media collection for American Crafts brings us a lot of essential materials to practice different techniques. The collection of papers is spectacular, VERY Mixed Media, inspired by her own works where geometric designs and textures are not lacking. You'll be great at creating the base of LO.
But if you're really a Mixed Media fan, you're sure to be looking for materials to really stain your hands, aren't you? In the collection we will find acrylic paints and crayon sets to paint backgrounds.
Stamps, and stamp inks, are another of Vicki's favourite elements for creating backgrounds and decorating her work, which is why acrylic stamps with floral and vegetable elements, phrases, letters, numbers... combined in packs with different die cuts or dies. A real hit!
Of course, we could not miss the essential tools that we always have to have at hand, such as brushes and sponges. The stencil and gessos are also a basic to create texture and dimension in our backgrounds.
So keep an eye out for a very colourful and creative spring thanks to Vicky Boutin and American Crafts - in March we'll have the whole collection in our hands!
