Cricut Infusible Ink
We already know that Cricut likes variety and is always looking to meet our creative needs. So it was only logical that after offering a wide range of vinyls of all kinds, it should go one step further and help you personalise your ideas for customising objects with the Infusible Ink line.
What else can you do with Infusible Ink?Vinyls, whether permanent or iron-on, involve applying a layer of adhesive onto a treated surface; we could say they act like a sticker. Infusible Ink, on the other hand, goes away with the notion of layering materials and instead fuses with the surface - as the name suggests. This allows professional quality personalisation, as the transfers do not crack, crease or wrinkle.
What is the Infusible Ink?
Infusible Ink follows the rules of heat transfer by following the principle of sublimation. It's not a matter of making one element adhere to another, but (exaggerating a little) melting them together to make them one. And most importantly, the result will last a lifetime.
Simply create your design using any Cricut cutting machine, then apply heat to the substrate and voila, a result worthy of the best shops.
How does Infusible Ink work?
It was originally created to personalise very personal craft items, particularly textiles to create a design on a T-shirt, tote bag, cushion or cap.
Infusible Ink material is placed on the fabric of your choice and then heated, either with a domestic iron or with the EasyPress heat press, which locates and enhances the fusion of the elements.
The result is everything we expect from Cricut: completely smooth, no shine, no flaking, no marks and no creases: the design is embedded in the fabric and is made to last. And of course, it will withstand many machine washes, drying and ironing while retaining its bright, vibrant colours.
Is it possible to do more and better?
Well, yes! If Infusible Ink was originally presented as a series of customised heat transfers for fabrics, even offering designs such as T-shirts, cushions and coasters, its effectiveness and optimal results were such that Cricut decided to broaden its scope.
